Antarctic Map

The Antarctic map reflects the main focus of ship-based Antarctic tourism, the emphasis is on the principal scenic places and significant geographical features, many of them near the shore. Proving to be an extremely useful companion and guide to the Antarctic region including history, wildlife and geographical information.

The Antarctic map's special features include illustrated mini-biographies of 30 notable explorers, photos of Antarctic scenes and wildlife, and five historic routes (Amundsen and Scott's pioneering routes to the South Pole; Fuchs and Hillary's British Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition; Etienne & Steiger's Trans-Antarctic Expedition; and Shackleton's epic journey from Elephant Island to Stromness, South Georgia.

The Antarctic maps feature the following areas: Antarctic Peninsula region, including Tierra del Fuego, the Falkland Islands (Malvinas), South Georgia, South Orkneys, and South Shetlands (at a scale of 1:2,750,000), with an enlargement of the southern Gerlache Strait area. On the reverse side there is a map of the whole Antarctic continent (at a scale of 1:12,250,000), with an enlargement of the Ross Island region.
